Breast MRI

Breast MRI

Many studies have shown that Breast MR Imaging, or Breast MRI, is the most sensitive technology for the detection of breast cancer. Breast MRI is particularly useful for women with an unusually strong family history of breast cancer, as well as for surveillance of high-risk patients with the BRCA-I and BRCA-II gene mutations.

Breast MRI does not replace annual screening mammography (as some cancers may only be seen on a mammogram), and should be viewed as a complementary procedure to mammography and ultrasound. Your physician can help you determine if a Breast MRI is right for you.

There is no advance prep required for a diagnostic MRI breast exam. If you have not yet gone through menopause, the exam should be performed in the second week of the menstrual cycle (days 7-14). An accurate date of the last menstrual period is required by our staff prior to scheduling your breast MRI.To schedule a breast MRI, please contact us.
