Listed below are the Questions and Answers from the ’2011 G-Codes’ webinars held on Thursday, January 6th.

Q: Should we change the Service Codes?
A: Your agency will need to create new Service Codes using the required G-Codes. It is important that you create entirely new Service Codes, as the old codes will continue to be used for episodes which begin in 2010.

Q: When entering the discipline for Care Providers, should we use PT, or PT and PTA?
A: This is entirely up to your agency. You can easily create a PTA discipline by going to ‘Support’ from Ubiquity’s main menu, then ‘Discipline Codes’, and ‘Add’.

Q: Will there be something in the nursing note to click which G-code to use?
A: There will not be a list of the new and old G-Codes in the nursing note. Clinicians will need to be familiar with the service codes and be aware of the episode start date in order to select the correct service code.

Q: What if we have more than one G-Code to use at a visit?
A: According to NAHC, the clinician must determine which service was predominately the reason for the visit, and use the appropriate code for that service.

Q: How would field staff communicated to change a service code?
A: Service Codes may be changed the following ways:

  • Office staff and live laptops (if your agency allows) may change the Service Code from within a Scheduled Visit.
  • Field staff operating on disconnected (must perform a file transfer) laptops must change the Service Code when clicking the red cross button to validate. When the file transfer is received in the office, the change will display as an error and may then be corrected.
